stop mo-mo
This one’s for a stopmotion client project.  The puppet’s done, I’m just not sure if I’m supposed to post it before the animation has been shot.  I don’t want to get into breaking confidentially/intellectual property/no-no territory.  Oh well, I’ll play it safe.  Here are just some in-progress shots. this racket is my fav.  I wove those threads by hand,...

making of "Craig & Walter" ('05)
Man, these animations are gettin’ old.  I need some new non-client work, ha.  Here are a few random renders during the process of making my only 3D animated film, “Craig & Walter.” I still think this render looks better than the final piece.  I guess because its less busy…and i kinda like those weird plastic-y green seats. this was what Walter (the squid) was...

Guess Who ('05)
My lil stop-mo piece “Guess Who” (summer ‘05) still seems to be the most popular of my shorts (even though it was probably the quickest to make..oh well!).  I was contacted by the couchfest film fest people a few weeks ago because they wanted to show the short. (http://www.couchfestfilms.com/attend.htm) But anyway, that reminds me that I should upload a few “making...

my american angst
I just stumbled upon this article.  A little harsh, but whatever.  Thank you, Michael Seitzman, for saying exactly what I’ve been thinking: “Stop voting for people you want to have a beer with. Stop voting for folksy. Stop voting for people who remind you of your neighbor. Stop voting for the ideologically intransigent, the staggeringly ignorant, and the blazingly incompetent. Vote...

Making of... "Story from North America" (07)
In 2007, along with completing my stop-motion thesis, I decided to take on a collaborative project with my friend and fellow animator, Garrett Davis.  Awesome song writing is also among his many talents, so we used his track “The spider song” as a basis for a 4.5 minute completely hand-drawn traditional animation.  We titled it “Story from North America” (which is part of...

During the production of my thesis, I took a quick isight video each day that I shot a scene to document what I had shot, the happenings of the day, or just my mood. Each video ranged from 1 to 2.5 minutes, so I arranged them in a chronological array to play simultaneously. Coincidentally, the last video I took after the completion of my animated film was the longest, and the “final...

Senior exhibition (07)... and trashing...
A year’s worth of blood, sweat, and tears…and somehow it all fits neatly inside a 21” screen… Maybe the best part — stacking all those sets up and TRASHING THEM!  I should have gone the extra mile and had a big bonfire.

Labe or Day
Sooooo, I really should have been doing this blog thing earlier to document the life of my projects for the past 8 months. I will, however, try to provide a super condensed version over the next few days with some (ohhh!) “behind the scenes”/”making of…” images and info. Since it’s Labor Day, I’ll focus today on Jalapeño peppers giving birth —...
